Kate Hartman is described as an artist, technologist and educator. I love that Kate is both a practicing artist and an educator because a lot of educators tend to push aside their passion when they teach. Kate regularly teaches classes on textiles and electronics. Her ideas are extremely creative and quirky. In her biography it states that she is the co-createor of a company that allows plants to communicate when they are thirsty. This system is called Botanicalls. Being an artist who always has trouble with deciding on my subjects, I envy Kate Hartmann in that she has such diverse ideas and is constantly looking to nature, space and technology for her inspiration.
These 'pinky linkers' are for connecting with people without holding hands. Because 'holding hands can be weird.' I think her ideals are creative and have a humorous aspect to them.

She is teaching a workshop on 'social wearables.' Social wearables are defined as something that you can wear but are able to communicate with larger systems.
