How cute is this? This was my e-textile project and I really liked making it. We were allowed to choose between making this stuffed animal or a light up bookmark (or both of you are ambitious!). These were the instructions and the cut felt. Basically it LOOKED a lot easier than it was. Anytime you are dealing with electricity and circuits and you want to make your textiles have an actual job and function there is a lot of room for error. Read those directions carefully!!!

So a big part of this project is being able to sew. I'm lucky in that I actually know how to do this and didn't need to ask for help threading the needle or knitting it. HOWEVER we used conductive thread for this project. That's the only was the electricity would be able to travel. The conductive thread was definitely stickier than most threads making it difficult to keep neat as the thread wants to constantly knot itself. Trick- keep the thread nice and tight and use tiny "ants marching" steps when seeing with the conductive thread.
I I think I put too much hot glue to secure my felt eyes making it difficult to stick the needle through both the glue and the felt thus bending my needle! |
The Lily is sewn, the eyes are sewn and the battery is all in! This was trickier than it looks as there was a specific order in that everything has o be sewed down in. Also another big thing is that the threads can not touch each other, otherwise the lights on your animals will not light up.

Adorable! I loved this project. But I will say that when my lights did not light up after I sewed everything and stuffed my monster I was not happy. I definitely want to fix him when I get a chance!
